Is your shipment taking longer than expected to reach its destination?

When you book a shipment, an estimated delivery time is provided. This information gives a timeframe within which to expect the shipment's arrival, not a precise deadline.

Why is the courier delivering a package late?

  • Wrong or incomplete address – When the courier attempts to deliver a package to an address that is difficult to reach or locate, a second attempt will not be scheduled unless the customer provides all necessary details. The courier usually leaves a notice to inform about the delivery attempt.

! Always remember to check the confirmation email with all order details. Additionally, if your street has recently changed its name, for example, it is advisable to also include the old name or communicate it directly to the courier.

  • Incorrectly filled order – A postcode entered instead of the house number, a blank field, or the city name entered instead of the street are some of the possible causes for a delayed delivery.

! Always pay close attention when booking through a platform and not directly through the courier. The form is designed to meet all requests, so it can happen that some empty fields are irrelevant for some companies while necessary for others.

  • Change of destination – If you have decided to change the destination address after confirming the order, your package may arrive later than the initially estimated delivery time. Even if the new address is not far from the previous one, the new data must be entered and re-processed by the company's logistics system, which could cause delays.
  • Delayed delivery due to customs checks – This situation occurs especially when necessary documents are incomplete or missing, or because the item being shipped is prohibited.
  • Difficulty accessing the property – In certain situations, the courier needs codes to access specific areas or buildings. When completing the order, make sure to provide this type of information if necessary.
  • Unclear data due to poor print quality – If the label is not printed correctly, the data on it may not be easily readable for the courier.
  • Weather conditions – In some cases, adverse weather can affect delivery times. In the event of heavy rainfall, for example, traffic can be significantly slowed down or even certain roads blocked. In these particular situations, it is very likely that the courier will deliver the package late.
  • The delivery address is a post office – No courier picks up or delivers packages to post office boxes. For this reason, make sure to use a regular address.
  • Failed delivery attempt – Couriers have a large number of deliveries throughout the day. For this reason, they cannot return to the same address multiple times. In addition, they certainly cannot wait too long for a single customer, as this would lead to delaying all subsequent deliveries.

! Couriers usually attempt delivery 2 or 3 times on different days. If no one is present at the address when the courier arrives, a second attempt will be scheduled for the following business day. If the various attempts are unsuccessful, the package will be stored in the courier's warehouse, where it can be collected within a maximum of 5/10 days.

  • Refusal by the recipient – If the recipient is unaware of the shipment, they may refuse to accept a package. To avoid this inconvenience, make sure to inform the recipient about the shipment.
  • Technical inconvenience – Breakdowns and inconveniences can always happen. Some delivery delays can be caused by temporary errors within the logistics system or breakdowns of the vehicle used for transport.
  • Construction site or scaffolding – Although not a frequent cause, in the event of works or scaffolding outside the building, delivery can be more complicated for the courier.
  • Couriers have a programmed route – The time of day when delivery will be made depends on the location of your address on that route. Couriers usually work from 9 am to 6 pm, but during peak periods (such as December), the high number of orders to process can cause delivery delays.
